Community Enchanted Light Trail

“Follow the call of the Disco Ball this Christmas time…

We had lots of fun with this one, once again working alongside Chippenham Town Council to light up the banks of the Chippenham riverside and bring some festive magic to town for the local residents.

At the start of the trail, visitors enter through the quiet, empty office of Mr Snowman and his employees, empty desks with wrapped presents, boxes of coal, carrots and scarfs lined the entrance… But where were all the snow folk?

As visitors continued, guests were greeted by beautifully lit trees with a selection of extra large Moroccan lanterns hanging down, leading on to our first water based activation space.

Four stunning giant colour changing Swans - designed and built by the Melt Production team, these 2.5m high, CNC cut swans with colour changing LED lights, looked spectacular on the water. We used low level fog to create atmosphere and really make the activation stand out. The swans looked so elegant, with the illusion that they were floating on the water.

Next up were the infamous ‘Talking Trees’ which made a return for a second year. This time around Old Oak, Gnarly, Branches and Willow all came dressed in their “Tree-diculous” Christmas jumpers!

The narrative continued from last years’ activation of the search for the Norther Lights, as well as discussing their excitement for the infamous Snowman’s party.

…But they needed to be quick, as those Pesky Penguins always take up all the room on the dance floor!

The next activation was the penguin party, full of colour changing lights and large arctic animals.

The finale was of course the Snowman’s Christmas Party! We designed and built four 8ft Snowmen each dressed in party attire with Mr Snowman himself as the DJ blasting out all of the tunes - We were really proud of the look of this space, which was essentially a full on nightclub fit-out in the trees.

For this years’ trail we also built and created an Après Ski themed hospitality area, which also housed a post box for children to post their letters to Father Christmas, directly to the North Pole.

As guests entered the marquee they were greeted with a flurry of artificial snow and a giant photo wall opportunity, giving the feel that they are fresh off the ski slopes.

The space was beautifully lit with festoon and uplighters and lots of twinkling alpine trees, market stall style bars serving mulled drinks and a stage for live music.
